Corona Virus Resources
Stay Connected!
Joy and Connection are great for the immune system. Fear and panic are bad for it. Let's do our best to buoy one another up and offer hope and individual and community resilience!
My intention with this page is to offer up resources, inspiration, help and hope. I am not a doctor, a health professional or a practicing herbalist. I have, however, had a long interest in studying human health and wellness and the practices that have kept humans in vibrant health throughout our long evolutionary history. To me, this is a primary ancestral skill. None of these resources are meant to replace professional medical advice, rather are put forward as helpful suggestions for greater wellness.

To help folks weather the Corona Virus well, from health tips to making the things you need when supply chains are interrupted, I have been shifting gears from ancestral skills to Corona related skills on my YouTube channel. Subscribing and hitting the "notifications bell" icon will keep you in the loop when I post new videos. YouTube is limiting viewership and monetization of any videos offering DIY or herbal wellness content related to the Corona Virus, so it is possible some of this may eventually get pulled. I am hoping to put together an ebook with more details on all of these subjects and more for further support with Corona and related issues.

Vibrant Immunity and Resilience
There is a lot of information about how to avoid contact with the virus, which is obviously a very important measure we should all be taking. Also important is doing everything you can to keep your system healthy and strong starting right now! Do the things that make you feel good in your body and spirit wherever possible. Plenty of rest, adequate exercise, fresh air and sunlight, excellent nutrition and avoiding immune lowering anti-nutrients: refined sugar, processed foods, rancid oils, caffeine, alcohol, etc.

Herbal Medicine - Support form the plant world!
In addition to more attention to my nutrition and self care right now, I drinking more healthful teas- mixtures of adaptogens and immune boosting mushrooms and herbs like nettles for the vitamin and mineral content, elder flower tea and elderberry cordial, lemon balm ( a gentle antiviral), Pedicularis, skullcap and milky oats for calm and relaxation.
Stephen Harrod Buhner is a very respected clinical herbalist whose work on Lymes disease, SARS, and with herbal antivirals and antibiotics is widely acclaimed and successful. He has shared an article with herbal protocols specific to the Corona Virus, link below. This is a very scientific and heady article, but if you can get through all of that there are good specific recommendations and recipes towards the end of the article.
Link: Buhner Article about Herbal Recommendations for the Corona Virus
I also highly recommend his books Herbal Antibiotics and Herbal Antivirals, both of which can be ordered as ebooks so you have access to them right away.
I have been making a lot of herbal medicine in the past week and encourage folks to empower themselves with more knowledge to do the same. In a time where there may be very limited space in hospitals and where hospitals are a place with high virus contamination, these medicine may be of critical importance for you and your loved ones.
I am now offering the Elder Leaf Decoction Tincture he references in the article. Please note the disclaimer and do your own research for information on using it.
More information about this tincture of other herbs for support with the Corona Virus in this interview with John Slattery on the Wilderness and Wellness Podcast. He talks about Elder Leaf Tincture about 3/4 of the way through the interview.

Nature Connection
I am always encouraging folks to find ways to feel more connected to the natural world. It is even more important right now in the age of "social distancing". Social interaction is part of how our central nervous system regulates itself. With stressful times and limited social interaction, it is more challenging to keep ourselves feeling calm and well. Connection with the greater world around you- wherever you are, however you can, can make a huge difference in how you feel, which in turn will help support healthy immune function. If you are staying indoors, find some good nature films to watch, learn what birds are in your neighborhood and get more familiar with their habits and songs. If it is available to you, go on walks outside and learn some new plants. Order some field guides and increase your naturalist know how!

Boost Your Skill Set!
Finding yourself with a little extra time at home these days? Why not take up a new hobby or learn some new skills? I am working to put out more skills videos than usual right now to help, but there are lots of good books and videos (and a lot of mediocre ones I'm afraid, be choosy!). Learning some survival skills is a great move right now! It might be harder to travel or spend time outside to apply them currently, but knowing they are there builds confidence and helps lower fear, all of which will make a difference when times are challenging! I'm offering my buckskin sewing tools, tool kits and "learn to sew kits" at a discounted rate right now so folks can use their down time at home to learn buckskin sewing.
